Laboratory Director
Dr. Dominika Pindus is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois. She received her doctorate in Physical Activity and Public Health (with a focus on cognition) from Loughborough University, UK, in 2015. She joined the University of Illinois faculty in 2018 after completing postdoctoral studies at the University of Cambridge, UK, and Northeastern University. She directs the Physical Activity and Neurocognitive Health Laboratory (PNC Lab) with the mission to advance knowledge about the effects of sedentary lifestyles and physical activity on cognitive and brain function. Her research focuses on developing novel physical activity interventions to reduce sitting and enhance behavioral and neurofunctional markers of higher-order cognition (e.g., executive functions, declarative memory). Dr. Pindus’ work is funded by the National Institutes of Health and published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
